Request

I am requesting information about contracted home-to-school transport services when journeys are cancelled because a school closes unexpectedly, for example, due to severe weather or another emergency.

For the academic years 2024/25 and 2025/26, please provide:

1. The number of occasions on which contracted home-to-school transport services were cancelled because a school closed unexpectedly due to adverse weather or another emergency.

2. Of these cancelled services, where recorded, how many resulted in:

    * the operator receiving the full contracted payment;

    * the operator receiving a partial payment; and

    * the operator receiving no payment.

3. Where partial payments were made, please provide the average percentage of the normal contracted rate paid to operators 4. Under your current standard home-to-school transport contract terms, what payment is normally due to an operator when a school closes unexpectedly and:

    * the operator is informed before the vehicle has set off; and

    * the vehicle or driver has already begun the journey?
